Works of the month fruit and vegetables October
When we arrive in October we quickly approach the winter season, when the temperatures become rigid and the fruit and vegetable crops must be checked and protected, to avoid that they can suffer damage due to the cold climate. Of course, there are still many varieties within the vegetable garden and orchard that can be grown and harvested during this period. The horticultural varieties that still give a good harvest are zucchini, green beans, cauliflowers, carrots, peppers, fennel and pumpkins. As far as the fruit is concerned, instead, apples, pears, kiwis, raspberries and, in some cases, figs are collected. As regards the works of the fruit and vegetable month of October, they must be aimed at preparing the soil for the sowing of winter crops, cleaning the plants with the elimination of dry leaves and diseased parts.
Numerous sowings are possible in the vegetable garden for the winter season and mulching works must be prepared for the less resistant varieties. Transplants of some species should also be followed, such as sage. For some crops the sowing can be done in full or in a seedbed. The seeds in open ground can be made for chard, carrots, chicory, turnip greens, broad beans, lettuces, peas, parsley, sprigs, radishes, rocket, escarole, spinach, spinach, valerian.
While as regards plantations and transplants it is possible to make them for garlic, asparagus (legs), onion bulbils, artichokes, early onions.
Even where we do not sow, we fertilize the soil with organic fertilizer and work it well, it will already be ready for the next sowing. We collect the latest summer vegetables and we eradicate the plants that are now drying up.
